Kilteevan National School Raise 5th Green Flag

Congratulations to Kilteevan National School on raising their 5th Green Flag today for Biodiversity. Special guest Eanna Ní Lamhna was on hand to raise the flag before inspecting the school’s wonderful garden and grounds for Roscommon County Council’s “Pollinator Award”.

Beechwood House Kilteevan

Don’t miss this informative and insightful article about Beechwood House Kilteevan  by Shane Gilleran (Kilteevan) in the latest edition of Co. Roscommon Historical and Archaeological Journal, Volume 14.

Beechwood House is the story about the "forgotten big house" in Kilteevan. It tells of a turbulent relationship between its owners and tenantry.

With emphasis on the 19th and 20th centuries; including the famine years, land-wars, culminating in a local campaign to drive the owners out. The burning of Beechwood House during the War of Independence and it's rebuild. Its Demolition in the 1940's.

Congratulations to everyone involved in yet another outstanding Journal. How lucky we are to have such a group of dedicated people recording our history and heritage in Co Roscommon. Very Well Done, a wonderful quality read. On sale in Roscommon town.
