Kilteevan Féile Samhraidh 2

Following on the legacy from The Gathering in 2013, Kilteevan is hosting its second Féile Samhraidh on 19th 20thand 21st June 2015.

The Féile is being organised by Kilteevan Community Development Group Limited with their project partners Kilteevan Tidy Towns, St. Joseph’s GAA Club, and the wider Kilteevan community.

The committee welcomes visitors from home and abroad to visit Kilteevan for the weekend.

The festival opens on June 19th with the Féile Social Dance in the Community Centre with music by Glór Tíre winner Michael Regan.

Arising from Kilteevan’s entry in Tidy Towns Competition in 2015, a serious effort is being made to Green the Festival this year.  Efforts will be made to reduce waste, litter and energy over the festival weekend. One innovative example Kilteevan’s energy reducing events is the organisation of a bus to Sligo for the Connacht Senior Football Semi final on June 20th.

On Sunday 21st there will be a trip down memory lane as everyone is invited to view a locally made DVD outlining Memories of Kilteevan Pioneer Hall. The viewing will be followed by light refreshments, a look at old photographs and a few surviving items made in the Pioneer Hall. This is a real opportunity to meet up with old friends and chat about the past.

Everyone is welcome to The Family Fun Day on June 21stat St Josephs GAA Pitch. There will be events, races novelty games, face painting and challenges for young and not so young. A Barbeque will be ongoing at the pitch to keep hunger at bay.

Everyone is encouraged to come along and join in the fun and to celebrate Kilteevan’s community at home and abroad.

This project is funded under the Community Tourism Diaspora Initiative Funded by Roscommon County Council, IPB Insurance and Fáilte Ireland.

Kilteevan Wheelers Cycle Malin to Mizen

Ireland is a great place to cycle .The large numbers of new cyclists on our roads are proof of that.  But very few amateur cyclists can claim to have cycled from Malin Head to Mizen Head (400 miles) in five days.

Well, five members of our own Kilteevan Wheelers Club did just  that during the week!

Congratulations to you all. What a truly magnificent achievement.  We hope you are all feeling fit and well after the journey and we look forward to having you training back indoors in the Community Centre in late Autumn.
