Book Launch in Kilteevan Community Centre

Kilteevan Community Centre was packed to capacity on Friday November 8th for the launch of A Sense of Place: Reflections on the Boglands of Kilteevan by Sr. Kathleen Glennon.

The audience was welcomed to The Gathering Event by Eileen Fahey Chairperson Kilteevan Community Development Group. Ms Fahey said that “throughout 2013, this small nation has rediscovered much of what is strong and meaningful in local communities. Given Ireland’s rich literary heritage, it is most appropriate that we are launching a book of reflections as part of The Gathering Ireland 2013.  We celebrate Kilteevan’s own weaver of words Sr Kathleen Glennon born and reared in Clooneskert. We are delighted, honoured and indeed very proud that Kathleen decided to launch this book in this historic room the heart of Kilteevan.  This event, is opening another chapter in the unique history of our small community .Sr Kathleeen Glennon reaches deep into the soul of Kilteevan and gives meaning and shape to what is around us” Ms Fahey concluded.

Launch of Kilteevan Three Year Strategic Plan

On Thursday 12 September 2013, Kilteevan Community Development Group Limited launched their Three Year Strategic Plan for Kilteevan. The launch was attended by a large number of adults and young people from the community.

 

The plan was developed by environmental consultants ,Woodrow Sustainable Solutions. Speaking at the launch Eileen Fahey, Chairperson Kilteevan Community Development Group Limited, welcomed the audience and said that the night marked a new phase in community development for Kilteevan. "Planning", Ms Fahey said "is vitally important in helping us to do better job even in unfavourable times".
