Thank you Val Robus, photographer, social media manager and writer .How nice to learn about visitors from Sligo coming to Kilteevan for recreation. Now that is some change!  Our Tidy Towns volunteers should be very proud. And what a nice boost to receive words of appreciation.

Congratulations to Mark Fox and Killian Lunt (in our photo) both of whom were National Finalists in the  FarmPEAT 2022 "Love Your Wellies"  Competition . Both boys attend Kilteevan National School.

There were over a thousand entries  from primary and secondary  schools throughout the 32 counties .

The results were announced on June 17th. by Pippa Hackett. Minister of State for Land Use and Biodiversity at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine .

Well the exciting news is that the Final Overall  1st place  NATIONAL  WiINNER  was MARK FOX for his entry titled The Boglands.  Well Done Mark, what an achievement!

Kilteevan Tidy Towns is particularly pleased and proud of the fact that Mark and Killian's projects were inspired by our Cloonlarge Loop Project. Both boys used aspects of the Loop as  themes for their entries. This makes us feel that all our hard work is worthwhile . We have successfully reached a younger generation and encouraged them to reflect on our natural heritage.

Mark's project was a detailed 3 dimensional  diorama based of the Cloonlarge Loop, tracing its history back to the last ice age 10,000 years ago

Killian's project was based on the Turf Hopper designed by his grandfather and fabricated by his father. Killian surprised us all with his level of detail about the workings of the Hopper not to mention his cool video presentation .

Well Done to all participants in this competition.
