Following a recent Community meeting on February 9th, and a subsequent meeting of Kilteevan Community Development Group Limited on February 19th, a decision was taken to enter Kilteevan in the Tidy Towns competition in 2015.
Tidy Towns is about local people coming together to improve their own area. The competition inspires a huge amount of voluntary effort in towns and villages across the country. The effort of volunteers not only improves the environment in which we live, but also helps cement community relations and builds pride in our community.
A large group of people have expressed interest and have volunteered to be part of this worthwhile development of our community. The first planning meeting will take place on Monday, 9th March at 8.00 pm in the Community Centre, and we would like to invite you to attend if you have an interest in becoming involved with this project. A Tidy Towns committee will be formed at the meeting. If you cannot attend, watch out for news on our website and follow us on Facebook.
The competition is about something Kilteevan is blessed with. That is, quite simply, Community Spirit. We are asking everyone in the community to embrace our participation in the project and let Kilteevan shine.
We would like to invite you to a public meeting in Kilteevan Community Centre on MONDAY FEBRUARY 9TH AT 8.00PM. We would especially like to encourage new members to our community to come along.
We have invited a guest speaker to kick start the night by addressing us on a project which we feel has the capacity to improve Kilteevan into the future.
We value the opinions and ideas of the local community. We would like to seek your ideas on projects, proposals that the community may undertake in the years ahead.
We are also seeking to involve as many people as possible in current activities therefore we are seeking willing members of the community and friends of Kilteevan to become involved in KCDGL and/or Sub committees or Working Groups.
We look forward to meeeting you on Monday 9th.
Refreshments willl be served after the meeting.
if you are unable to attend feel free to contact us with your opinions views at [email protected] or by post to at Kilteevan Community Development Group, Kilteevan, Roscommon.

St. Joseph’s GAA Club is holding a function on Monday 29th December 2014 to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the founding of the club. The event will be held in the Community Centre in Kilteevan.
The evening will commence with Mass at 7.30pm in St Joseph’s Church followed by a meal, various presentations and some music to round of a night of great celebration. Some great work has been done on the history of the club since its inception in 1889 and this will be available to see on the night. As with most clubs St Joseph’s went through a number of difficult years and had lapsed on a number of occasions mainly due to emigration.
However, in 1979 the club was reformed again by a number of visionary people who worked tirelessly to have a GAA club at the heart of our community. The Club intends to honour the initial reforming members or members of their families with a suitable presentation on the night.
We wish St Joseph’s Club every success with this very significant event.
