New Defibrillator Installed

Our defibrillator has been installed on an external wall of the Kilteevan Community Centre. The new cabinet is tough and durable and will provide protection in extreme weather conditions.

This vital lifesaving device was funded with the proceeds from the Social Dance which was held on January 9th. We would like to thank everyone who supported the dance.

In preparation for the arrival of the new defibrillator a group of 17 people from Kilteevan community and Kilteevan clubs and organisations recently completed a HEARTSAVER Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) course. The Irish Heart Foundation, in association with the American Heart Association certification course covered all the essential aspects of CPR for adults.

Training was delivered in Kilteevan Community Centre by volunteers Laura Dempsey, Frances Hannon and Tom Holian. While the course was delivered in a highly professional manner, the atmosphere was relaxed which made it a positive and enjoyable learning experience for everyone. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Laura, Tom and Frances for delivering the course.

The trained participants have agreed to be First Responders in the event of an emergency in Kilteevan and may be able to increase the chance of survival for victims of life-threatening emergencies.      (February 2015)

Congratulations St Joseph's

Congratulations to everyone involved in St Joseph’s 125th celebration dinner last night. Our Community Centre looked its absolute best bedecked in Joseph’s red and black.

Meticulous planning, organisation and co-operation between St Joseph's, Paddy Finns and Hannon’s Hotel ensured the smooth and efficient running of the event.

The success of the night showcased what can be managed in Kilteevan Community Centre.  Well Done St Joseph’s-here’s to another 125 years!

The photo of a section of the hall was taken the Community Centre early December 29th before the final table decorations of flags and balloons were placed. Nevertheless, it gives a sense of the hard work, effort and dedication by all involved.

St Joseph’s Abú.
