Kilteevan Community Alert

Kilteevan Community Alert is a community based safety programme. Its aim is to help those most vulnerable in our community, regardless of their age.

Muintir na Tíre and An Garda Síochána work alongside Kilteevan Community Alert to try and improve the quality of life in our community. The programme has a number of objectives;

  • Reduce crime opportunities
  • Encourage neighbourliness and community spirit
  • Provide information to improve personal safety and accident prevention.

To assist community alert groups in achieving these objectives, funding is available from the Department of Environment and Local Government. Kilteevan Community Alert has been awarded approximately €6000 in the last two years. This funding has been allocated to those most vulnerable and in need of assistance within our community. The funding has permitted the installation of personal social monitored alarms, monitored Carbon Monoxide and smoke detectors. Emergency internal lights, and external security lights.

Kilteevan Community Alert has an active committee, and each town land in Kilteevan is represented by a member. A range of ages, genders and professions represent Kilteevan Community Alert. We are assigned two community Gardai and they are stationed in Roscommon Town. The Gardai are extremely helpful and are willing to meet with community members, to address any issues should they arise.

If anyone has any community alert based issues please do not hesitate to contact Evette McNeela on 086-389-3806. Kilteevan Community Alert is here to try and help in any way possible. So please pick up the phone and don’t be a stranger.
